♥Give Armenia grace, let go of all expectations, and allow Armenia to surprise you with all its magic.

♥Patience is a virtue, as life really moves at its own pace here, so slow down and enjoy every moment.

Armenian Hospitality

Armenian hospitality is renowned for its warmth and genuine kindness. Welcoming guests with open arms is deeply ingrained in Armenian culture and traditions. Whether you are a close friend, a distant relative, or a complete stranger, Armenians take great pride in treating visitors like family.

Although you may be here for a short time, engaging with the locals will give you a more authentic and immersive experience. You’ll notice that Armenian people are loving and can be prickly at times. It’s amusing and endearing with just the right amount of grit.

The hospitality extends to offering a bountiful table filled with delicious homemade dishes and an assortment of sweets. Sharing meals is a cherished tradition, and guests are encouraged to indulge in the diverse flavors of Armenian cuisine. Alongside the delightful food, guests are often treated to heartfelt conversations, laughter, and stories of local history and customs. Armenians value the connection they create with their guests, forging bonds that can last a lifetime. This warmth and hospitality leave an indelible mark on those who experience it, making Armenia a truly special and unforgettable destination for travelers from all walks of life.

Tips & Tricks

AIRPORT

♥ US citizens do not need a Visa, therefore head straight to passport control when you have deplaned.

♥ Once you have passed passport control and head to baggage claim there are several employees offering to help with baggage. This is not a free service and will cost about 3000 AMD ($8). If you do not need this assistance be assertive, as they can be pushy!

♥ A taxi from the airport to the city center costs about 3000 AMD (~$10). If you use a taxi (not GG/Yandex) discuss the price before taking the ride.

♥ Connect with Ani Nina via WhatsApp/ Viber/ iMessage if you need to be picked up from the airport.

CASH IS KING

♥ Money exchange establishments are located throughout the city (supermarkets like SAS or banks are recommended).

♥ Currently 385 AMD is the equivalent of $1. Be mindful as rates change daily.

♥ In the city, most establishments are equipped to accept cards for payment. When exploring outside the city, visiting villages or historical sites, make sure to have AMD.

♥ Coins go a long way, so hold on to those 100/200/500 AMD as some public restrooms require payment.

GENERAL

♥ The city center (aka Kentron) is quite walkable. Sometimes taking a taxi can take longer. However, if you should need transport, hailing a taxi is old-fashioned fun. For a more modern experience, download the GG or Yandex apps (Armenians version of Uber/Lyft).

♥ Armenia has more tourism now, more than ever!

Therefore, call in advance and make reservations.

♥Restaurants are quite busy and sometimes under employed, so be patient. Note your server will not bring your bill until requested.

♥ It's hot!!! Wear breathable fabrics, comfortable shoes, grab your hat, and don’t forget sunscreen!

♥ Drinking fountains (pulpulaks) are located on most corners, stay hydrated!

♥ Unfortunately, Armenia's recycling is still developing. Consider reusing the glass bottles, or fill up your own water flasks.

♥ Green cross signs represent pharmacies (degatun/apteka), you can purchase many essentials here.

♥ Pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way. So look both ways and be cautious!

♥Driving etiquette is interesting- not all cars have seatbelts, some cars are quite run down, and sometimes you might feel like you're on a rollercoaster.

Keep calm, and carry on ;)
